"Carefully selected heroes can give us a pattern for our lives and serve as our role models. They can give us courage to walk the road of life righteously."
H. David Burton
One of my heroes is my big sister
Audrey Delgado Rogers
. She has set a great example for me and my little sister of what it's like to be patient, happy, faithful, diligent, and so many other great things. Audrey has also set a great example for me by going on a mission to Portugal. I was able to see her go out to Lisbon and serve the Lord. I read her emails, saw her pictures and heard her testimony of missionary work. Seeing all her amazing experiences inspired me even more to go on a mission.
Audrey is one of many heroes I have. It is important that we have good role models in our lives so we can live righteously.
Who's your hero?

"Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ."
-The Family Proclamation
One of the many blessings that I have been giving in this life is my family. I love them so much and I'm so grateful my siblings and I were raised in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Why is family so important to you?

Weeks 55 & 56 - Glorifying God

Hello!

This has been a pretty eventful week. From service projects to biking in the rain, we stayed pretty busy.

We do a lot of service while on a mission, and this week we went to the community storehouse and helped them out with their needs. Mostly helping out in the food pantry or their resale distribution center. We love helping out there because they always need extra help and they are always super kind to us. We also served at a person's house in the area doing yard work. The awesome part of this story is that it was the house of a lady we met about a month ago at a different service project. Her family is super nice and they even bought us Chick-fil-a (@Uncle Dusty) that was delivered by a Chick-fil-a car! The world is really becoming a better place now that Chick-fil-a delivers.

This week I also posted a bunch on Facebook about the importance of families and how the Gospel of Christ is essential in building a happy family. I made a post about heroes (Audrey) and why we need heroes/rolemodels in our lives to set good examples for us so we can live righteously. I would strongly suggest checking out those posts! They also have pictures of some cool people!

This week we were also able to talk about hope with one of our friends. We shared a scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 4:5

"And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work."

What I really like is the phrase "with an eye single to the glory of God." I feel like if we aren't focused on God we can lose hope, faith, charity, and love. I feel like if we focus on God and don't get distracted we can strengthen our hope, faith, charity, and love. So, if you ever feel like you are lacking any of these, turn to God and pray and focus on glorifying God. If you do these things your faith will grow and your hope will be impenetrable!

I hope yall have an awesome week! And I challenge you the have an eye single to glorifying God!

Love,
Elder Delgado

Week 54 - We Should Be Like Enos and Pray For Our Enemies

Howdy folks!

This weeks been a good one. We've really been trying to focus on our ward (congregation) members and helping them with any needs they have. It's pretty fun getting to know everyone and build up friendships with them.

This week we couldn't get a ride to do service so we decided to ride our bikes. It was a fun little 30 min ride. The funny thing is that Texas is relatively flat, so it seems like you're always putting in effort to keep going because there isn't really a lot of downhill time. But anyways, at service we helped clean a class room up and laminated things for a teacher.

We have also started to create a fun little video. It is still in the making, but maybe it'll be done soon and I can share it with y'all.

This week I was studying in the Book of Enos in The Book of Mormon. One thing I really liked about Enos' story is that he prayed for his enemies, the Lamanites. I think it is important that we too pray for our "enemies". It makes us become more like Christ when we pray for our enemies. When we do this we can feel more peace and love and respect for the people who treat us badly. I hope you can think about your enemies and pray for them. Pray that they can receive blessings and that they too can come to know more of Christ and how they can come closer to Christ. I know it sounds weird but it makes a difference.

I hope y'all have a great week and remember to love your neighbor!

Love,

 Elder Delgado

Week 53 - I Love Being A Trainer

Hello everybody!

This week has been great. I was able to pick up my new missionary that I'm training. His name is Elder Dayley. He is from Spanish Fork, Utah! He's such an awesome kid! I've really loved this opportunity that I have right now to be a trainer.

This week I had my first Texas BBQ! The family made us 3 different racks of ribs! It was so delicious.

This week we were also able to watch General Conference. For those who don't know, General Conference is a meeting our Church holds twice a year. We are blessed to hear from the living Prophet here on the earth and to hear from many other General Authorities of the church aka Apostles. I really loved President Nelson's talk where he was talking about letting God prevail. I loved this talk so much because he emphasizes how when we let God prevail everything in life gets easier. When we do God's will, he will not let us fail. There were so many good talks but that one was probably my favorite.

Oh yeah, and this past week I hit my year mark, or my halfway mark on my mission. It was pretty eventful.

Other than that we did a lot of service this week, and we had a bunch of good times.

I hope y'all have a happy week!

Love Elder Delgado
